- ETB PILOTING IN OCTOBER -

The first internal phase of the ETB pilot is taking place in October 2001. The educational repositories of project partners, i.e. UNI-C, NetLab, INDIRE, EUN, JRC's repository GEM and Deutche Buildung Server, are anticipated to take part.

After the internal phase, the pilot will be open for other educational repositories. If you are interested in receiving multilingual learning resources and sharing your own with a wider European audience, now is the time to act.

- WANTED: TESTERS FOR THE ETB PILOT -

Teachers and students interested in testing ETB's treasures (multilingual European learning resources) are invited to step forward. During the final pilot in winter 2001-2002, the test groups are called for the evaluation of the user-friendliness of the application. For teachers dealing with ICT in education, this is a great opportunity to bring European dimension into the classroom!

- ETB DATA MODEL - FIRST VERSION -

The first version of the ETB data model is ready. It is combined from two sets of elements.  ETB Metadata Element Set relates to the resource level, and Collection Level Descriptors (CLD) identify the entire collection of resources.

The ETB Metadata Element Set is created as a minimal common denominator set for the exchange of records over the ETB network. It includes six (6) mandatory elements compliant to Dublin Core. ETB Metadata Element Set can be extended to include local fields.

Collection Level Descriptors (CLD) are comprised of twelve (12) mandatory elements. This description of the repository is produced only once and serves as an identity card or catalogue for the collection that a repository holds.
