A thesaurus is a classified list of terms and concepts, such as a specialised vocabulary of a particular field, as of education, medicine or music. European Schoolnet with its members and project partners has been long working in maintaining a multilingual thesaurus to facilitate and support the multilinguality within the context of classifying learning resources.

The final version of the multilingual ETB Thesaurus came out in the beginning of Mars 2002. This article goes into details about the purpose of using a multilingual thesaurus, and it explains in depth the scope and structure of it.

All the terms in the ETB Thesaurus are connected to each other in a network of semantic relationships, which are the standard relationships of a multilingual thesaurus. Read a detailed description here.
